TFOM would like to congratulate executive committee member, Peter Sharman on his appointment to the Regional and Rural Physician Working Group (RRPWG) as the representative of the Australasian Faculty of Occupational & Environmental Medicine (AFOEM). Peter has an interest in helping stakeholders understand and respond to the issues facing doctors working in Australia’s less populous areas.

Peter’s nomination has been approved by the College Council and his term will commence on 1 July 2022 and concludes on 1 July 2024.

The RRPWG has been established for a maximum of a two-year period to develop a draft strategy and recommendations regarding practice and training in regional, rural, and remote locations in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.

Throughout the development of the draft strategy, the RRPWG will be engaging with key stakeholders both internal and external. The draft strategy and recommendations will be presented to the College Council for endorsement and RACP Board for approval to become strategic policy.

We wish you all the best in the role, Peter!
